In it for the Long Haul

Often enough new web owners equate the lightning-speed of Internet communications with the amount of time that it’ll take to get noticed and have a mega-hit of a website. In the beginning when hits just trickle in and the pace of new contact or ecommerce transactions is on the order of grass growing, it’s easy to become disillusioned. “Why is my site not enjoying the outrageous success that I’ve read about?”, they ask “Why are the Global Millions not beating a path to my site? Why hasn’t Google called me to purchase my fledgling business with obscene amounts of cash?” Well…
In the excitement of rolling out a new web project what’s forgotten (or ignored) is that building a web site is the relatively quick n’ easy part. Building a viable web presence takes time.

Beginnings…

Beginnings...…are special. Every new web site project is an adventure. You don’t have to be terribly old and jaded to know that maintaining a sense of “beginning” requires (hmmm) a child-like open-ness plus a willingness to re-invent and re-extend the boundaries of the possible periodically. So much easier to stick with the tried and true, no matter how worn that path, and to stop taking chances.

What’s all that got to do with web services? Plenty! I hereby promise to never get complacent and will do whatever’s necessary to bring to Dean Communications Clients a fresh perspective. I’ll even add a funny hat to the many hats I already wear if that’s what it takes. Maybe.
